New Homes for Today’s Living
Filed Under Arizona, Gilbert | Leave a Comment
Welcome to SPACES™ - A new kind of home for a new kind of living.
These new homes are designed for the way people live today. They’re modern, with flexible interior spaces to fit your lifestyle. They’re energy-efficient; and because they’re Shea Homes, they’re well built.
The overall feel is more urban, but with slightly more backyard space for a young family. The smaller houses feature sleek, modern fixtures and flexible, informal living areas.
Spaces can be found in Shea’s existing Seville, near Riggs and Power roads in Gilbert, which has a private golf course and sports club, parks, walkways and 14,000 citrus trees salvaged from the former citrus grove once rooted there.
Seville features 7 flexible floor plans ranging from 1,460 to 2,288 sq. ft. with up to 6 sleep spaces and up to 3 splash spaces.
New Shea Spaces homes have sleek, spare kitchen cabinets with modern stainless-steel handles and rolling, metal-framed, frosted-glass doors throughout.
A big part of the concept is “flex space” - areas that can easily accommodate a bedroom, family room or office, plus a great room that can be configured several ways. There’s space for a dining table, living room and reading or game nook, but without dangling light fixtures or other features that limit one area to a particular use.
The master bathrooms feature large walk-in showers with ceiling-mounted rain showerheads, but no bathtub - a request from young customers. The homes also lack a fireplace but come with a 42-inch LCD television.
New homes in Seville start in the high $100,000s.

Ken Peterson says Shea Homes should sell a lot of houses at their new Spaces community because they appealing to younger generations.
“We’ve listened to what our potential ‘Generation X and Y’ customers are telling us and we’ve built specifically for them,” he said.
Peterson, Shea’s vice president for sales and marketing, says those 25- to 30-somethings say they want homes in the mid-200,000s with open floor plans, high ceilings and lots of attention to “green.” Peterson says the concept already has worked for Shea, which built two Spaces communities in California with two more opening soon in Colorado.
“We have energy-efficient windows, blown-in cellulose and foam insulation in the walls, dual-flush toilets, a tankless water heater, integrated solar panels, CFL and LED lighting, xeriscape landscaping, . . . lots of features that make for very low energy bills,” Peterson said. “We talked to a lot of prospective customers and we went from there.”
He said an older clientele might want a fireplace to gather around in the home they buy, but not Shea’s Gen X & Yr’s. They told Shea marketers they preferred a big flat-screen television.
“So we include 42 inch LCD television in each home,” Peterson said. “It’s part of the deal.”
The wide-open look of the main living area with living room, dining room and kitchen all in one large room, “is very appealing to our clientele and offers them the ability to configure the area any way they please,” Peterson says. “They told us they wanted a lot of options in that area and we gave it too them.”
Shea Spaces will build out to 56 homes, but the development is in the midst of the Shea Seville community near Power and Riggs roads, with about 2,500 Spanish style homes now completed and occupied. Seville will build out to about 3,000 homes. Two Shea Spaces model homes now are open to the public and sales have begun.
New home residents will be able to use the sports club, walkways and large golf course already complete at Seville.
Shea will build Spaces homes as orders come in and construction of each home will take about 90 days.

Consumers have many questions when it comes to buying a new home, and the Shea Homes App can provide them with answers quickly and easily.”
The Shea Homes San Diego iPhone App provides users with easy access to important community information. Some of the benefits and features of the Shea Homes’ App include:

As we move forward into the future, Shea Homes is dedicated to utilizing technology to provide easy and convenient ways to instantly share information any place, any time, and best of all, it’s free,” said Bert Selva President and CEO of Shea Homes. “We are also currently working on applications that would be available to other mobile device users and expect to have them available by years end.”
